The objectives of the Foundation are:
| 1.1 | To foster and encourage within the community the recognition and significance of Government House in the history and heritage of the Territory; |
| 1.2 | To support the conservation (including preservation, restoration, reconstruction, adaptation and maintenance) and enhancement of Government House, its furnishings and surrounds; |
| 1.3 | To encourage and make possible direct public participation in fitting out and equipping Government House with works of art, antique furnishings, artifacts, sculptures, silverware, crystal-ware, objects d’art and other items or things of significant historic, contemporary or cultural value; |
| 1.4 | To acquire for display and use in Government House fine examples of Territory and other furniture, paintings and decorative arts so as to properly reflect the Territory’s heritage, culture and accomplishments; |
| 1.5 | To assemble collections of Territory objects d’art for official use and wherever practicable public viewing, by means of gifts, loans or purchases; |
| 1.6 | To lend to museums, galleries and other institutions or organisations approved by the Committee items from its collection for display purposes; |
| 1.7 | To produce and circulate publications, films and other presentations relating to Government House, its furnishings and its surrounds; |
| 1.8 | To promote public education and awareness of the history of Government House and the role of the Administrator; |
| 1.9 | To raise funds for the pursuit of the objects of the Foundation; and |
| 1.10 | To establish a public fund that will be used exclusively for the purposes of Objects 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5. |
In addition to the objects of the Foundation, the purposes of the Foundation shall be, through broad public support and membership, to foster the interest and recognition of Government House as a heritage precinct and asset for the people of the Territory and Australia.
